How can you explain the general public’s double standard regarding Avril?

I don't wanna sound like an outsider, but isn't Avril's epicness (not seeming to grow up) what makes her different that any other artist?

The thing is Avril looks like a teen, she have to really try much much harder in order to look older, even so she still look like not 27, the Vanity Fair shoot and Goodbye video doesn't count as an argument because we all know she do look much younger with no make up, even if she dress mature.

It's a sad case, people should understand that more

In the world and time where people are so obsessed of being looking and feeling young, Avril is being slag of because of it.

I understand the Smile and WTH argument, but still it just doesn't make any f sense

PS Nicky Minaj is older than Avl and no she did not start as weird dressing " immature" female rapper, While Katy's pre-fame and even her first album is very different from her last album.. and she do look a bit old for her age, yet she can color her hair blue and put up some "childish" clothes and still being praised and called class by many.

I know what you mean, but Katy and Nicky have only 2-4 years of career while Avril 10..and believe me people now get tired of their looks and childish behaviour.
It's great, fresh for a couple of years, but then fans (and even the non-fans) want to see them in a different way, probably because they grew up

I saw people love Smile and hated the video, because of that look.
