MuchMusic host paid to wear Abbey Dawn by contract

I went to MuchMusic last week to be in the audience for an episode of NewMusicLive. In case you don't remember the show, Avril was interviewed on the show in October.



The host in the video was hosting the episode I went to. I noticed she was wearing Abbey Dawn pants (the ones with the smiley face and the sunglasses on the butt) and I mentioned to her that I like her pants. She told me she is forced to wear Abbey Dawn twice a week on air. I asked her if she truly liked the clothing line, and she said it's decent but it's "too dark". She then told me she gets her clothes shipped for free from Montreal by Abbey Dawn, and she looks online for her favorite items from the clothing line!

I think she looks fantastic in the clothing line, but I find it funny that Abbey Dawn is actually placing hosts in contracts to wear their clothes. I know a lot of clothing lines do the same thing, but I didn't think Abbey Dawn would! :]

Oh, and she is super nice by the way, and gave me a hug before I left

I'd love to get paid to wear Abbey Dawn.. Ya know, just sayin'. Easy job, plenty of nice designs. She's really pretty though, several of those items look good on her.

Should she be allowed to just openly admit to being in a contract and 'forced' into wearing the line like that, though? Odd...

I know a lot of clothing lines do the same thing, but I didn't think Abbey Dawn would! :]

Well, it's marketing after all. That girl is a TV show host, and a lot of people will see what she wears, good exposure for Abbey Dawn. The clothes won't sell by themselves, they need promotion and that's just another way. And interesting she says it's "too dark", I would thought people would say it's too "bright" or "teenager-ish", at least for the first collections it was that way

Pretty sure she agreed to it herself, so she shouldn't make it sound like they're pinning her down and literally forcing her to wear the clothes. With the tattoos and such, she seems to have an edgy style so you'd think she'd like it...
