It's not your fault, really. Just like we can't really blame the ordinary people for Fascism & Nazism...when they came under the influence of such powerful propaganda..
Much like I can't expect you to agree with my point when you're apparently one of the people I was referring to. Passive smoking kills 600,000 people across the world every year, a third of that figure being children that were exposed to it at home. Your kids may be fine, but that doesn't really make it less big of a deal.

BTW, for many years, I only smoke when I am alone in my own dwelling...unless the smoke is escaping through the walls and killing people...???

I served my community for five years as a volunteer firefighter...which means NO PAY. Breathing the smoke from one single fire is like 10,000 cartons of cigarettes.

I guess that you would never wish to be a firefighter...let someone else do the job...

Well good on you. But that was your choice. Which is what my point has been all along.

Somebody has to do it, so people like you can sleep safely at night.

Just like someone has to go to war to defeat Fascism & Nazism, so we can have freedom.

Here is a quote about the dangers of smoke for Firefighters:

The tests found that during the course of a fire, firefighters face prolonged ex-posure to a number of hazardous gases and other harmful agents found in smoke, including but not limited to:

Asphyxiants (such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide)
Irritants (such as ammonia, hydrogen chloride, particulates, and sulfur dioxide)

Allergens (such as isocyanates, one of the main ingredients in polyurethane foam, also commonly found in pesticides)

Carcinogens (cancer-causing agents, such as asbestos, arsenic, mercury, and lead)

Smoke particles in the ultrafine range (particles less than 0.1 micron in diameter) are especially dangerous because they put firefighters at higher risk of specific cancers and cardiovascular disease. In fact, increases in firefighter mortality and morbidity have been directly linked to exposure to these types of gaseous and particulate agents.

The study also found that some gaseous effluents might also condense on protective equipment and exposed skin, leaving an oily residue or film. These chemicals can directly threaten firefighter health by being absorbed into the skin or eyes, or by inhalation. This valuable newfound information fills knowledge gaps identified in previous studies on firefighter exposure to combustion products.

I don't see how that changes anything, but yes, much love to all the men and women who risk their lives for their communities.

The only message I have for you, my friend, is BEWARE THE LOSS OF YOUR FREEDOMS. I have never complained about all the new laws concerning smoking...and I am very happy that my kids DO NOT smoke.

However, they have tried to take away my freedom to smoke, by raising the prices to exorbitant levels....but, our Native People here in Canada are on the side of freedom, so I can buy my 'backy' dirt cheap, loose in bags, on the reservation.....

Of course, it's only a matter of time, before that privilege will also be taken away....but by then, tobacco will have gone underground like ganja....and I will probably be happily dead anyway....

Think of it this way, they're trying to prevent the younger folk from getting into it.

Yes, those who are susceptible to propaganda will be terrified of the reported adverse effects of smoking......but kids who want to smoke will smoke...it's always been like that....even when I was a kid...some kids smoked and others didn't.....

Personally, I don't give a shit about all those News Items, that say coffee is good for you one day...and the next day it's not. I am not a believer in fairy tales.

There is an old guy here in Quebec, who is suing the tobacco companies because he contracted lung cancer after smoking 2 packets of cigarettes a day for 40 years. Why should the tobacco companies pay, because the guy never learned moderation. Should people with cirrhosis of the liver, resulting from a bottle of vodka a day for 30 years, also sue the distilleries...where is this madness going to end? Thank God I won't be around to find out...

They have no right to do that.
People should be allowed to do anything as long as it doesn't harm others.

Governments sometimes act like restrictive parents, trying to stop us from doing every other thing we like...

I find it funny, when parents are yelling at their kids for trying to smoke, yet while they are doing it they smoke themselves!

Same thing with a drunk father telling his kids not to drink

I have nothing against smokers, but I have never and WILL never ever smoke, it's not the nicotine or health hazards, it's more of some personal reason. I won't smoke even if it's healthy.

I rather put a needle and dope myself than to smoke.

My dear friend, you are going overboard again. You don't want to fuck around with needles...
