Another debate because why not...

Cloning: Making a identical genetic twin for somebody (a client) so that they have a resource for body parts (If they need a organ etc they can get it from their clone without any need to look for a close match donor)

Scientists have done alot of work on cloning and have even cloned some animals (To view the link you have to Register) I dont think it will be all that long until they start making human clones. thoughts?

p.s I'd recommend the film 'The Island'. Don't watch the trailer though it gives the story away

I personally think cloning is fine as long as the "clones" aren't actually "alive" (as in they just stay as parts rather than pieced together). Cloning an organ in advance is kind of an obvious thing to do if you know your going to need it and you have the money to buy it.

However a whole human walking around, talking and living just to be killed as a sacrifice to their "owner"? defiantly no

I think it depends how alive the clone is.

some people still disagree with it completely though. but i'd be quite happy knowing theres was a kidney (or whatever) there if i knew i was gonna need it

The only good thing about a living clone is that if your in accident then you have full back up, but if your growing 1 specific organ then you need time in advance to grow it. but it would be so horrible for the clone to know they would die if their owner (a complete stranger) got in trouble it would be them who took the full hit...

Yeah exactly...and so would everyone. They'd be fooling themselves saying they wouldn't use a kidney from a clone if it gave them an extra 10 years. I wouldn't view the clone as a person tho...It would just be weird. Its like the debate about whether you think artificial insemination is right. Like I mean...i get that people can't have their own babies...but its just weird.

As a believer in reincarnation, I think I would rather get a brand new, uniquely different body, when this one gives up the ghost....

Other than that, cloning, for the purposes of organ transplants does not offend me in the least...

Currently, clones are statistically similar genetically. I don't find that technology will ever get as far as just staying healthy.

We also have our doubts about Avrilxxx15...

The idea of cloning another human being is totally unrealistic...simply because a
human being is a composite of many things besides genes. We are essentially a
repository of all our life experiences, since the beginning of our age of

All we would be reproducing is another physical image of ourselves...who can love
their physical image that much?

I think that cloning for science studies is positive, any contribution can be of great help! but, I do not agree to the cloning of people, this can never happen, all people are unique .. and irreplaceable!

It's a bit of a mix. I find a direct clone a little bit cruel, especially if it's alive to some sort of extent. If they're simply cloning certain body parts, then I guess it's okay. Still not something I'd particularly find great or something I'd want to participate in.
