My Review of the Sally Hansen Nail Strips

I don't know if this is the right place to post reviews from Bandaids members, so this can be moved if it's not.

Anyway, a few weeks ago I bought a box of the Sally Hansen nail polish strips in the You're A Star design (at least I think that's what the name is). They're the ones that are blue with black stars. I tried them out today and want to write about my experience using them.

I'm very bad at doing my own nails, I have small hands and nails and am clumsy with nail polish and getting it in the right place on the nail, making sure the coating is even and everything. I did not find these nail polish strips very easy to work with at all.

If you've seen the tutorial video, Avril demonstrates how to apply them. She made it seem so much easier than it really was. I think this is the type of product that will not work for everyone. If you are good at doing nails, you will probably find this product very easy to work with, but I had a difficult time.

It took me a ridiculously long period of time to apply them, at least 30 minutes or more. I have no idea how Avril can do these in the car or airplane because I needed scissors to cut off the excess and there were little bits of scraps all over my desk. It's almost just as messy and inconvenient as real nail polish.

The only benefit of these strips is that there is no drying time.

However, if you would like to try these strips and think you won't have a problem, by all means try them. In my case, they just didn't work out so well. Another problem with them is that, yes you get 16 strips, but once you cut the excess off, it pretty much renders them useless and you have to discard them. Then you are basically left with the strips that are too big for your nails. They cost $10 per box, so I think for the price, they're a rip off. I only bought them because I was curious to try them and because they were Avril's designs. I think, unfortunately, I will revert back to using regular nail polish, sorry Avril.

LOL I didn't either! But I watched a couple other tutorial videos online and saw what I kind of did wrong. The girls doing them mentioned the filing part is difficult for them as well, it just takes practice to get it right and to do it quickly. I also read a YouTube comment that people have managed to find them much cheaper on discount shelves at Target or Walgreens for as little as 99 cents, so maybe if I can find them cheaper, I will try them again. The thing I didn't know before was that the box is only good for 1 application, which is supposed to last 10 days. It's not a very good deal, for what you're getting, at all.

Well, it's not like I have them or am able to find/buy/see/breath around them in Romania, the floppest country in the whole universe. So yeah... It's nice hearing people's experiences with them at least.

hmm dont know why you had so much trouble... ive become a pro at applying these, and like anything, it comes with practice. they still look perfect after 2 weeks and i have even pushed them to a little over 3 weeks and the only thing is that they recede a little when your nails grow. they are great!

I think it is one of those things that you just need practice at. But even despite any problems applying them, they're just too pricey, even if they do last a couple weeks (mine have actually started coming off). You can buy a bottle of nail polish for $3 and it will last you months.

Ty for the review. I guess they wouldn't fit my nails either. I have small nails and I tried nail stripes and they never worked for me as they should.
I rather use nail polisher <3.

Wow I thought I was the only one who had trouble doing them . This review is almost verbatim my experience with the Sally Henson nail strips. I bought the blue with black stars strips, it took me 30 mins or more to put them, on and they looked terrible on my tiny hands because I couldn't do them right lol. I just don't think nail polish is for me.
