My native language is English (I know, so exciting ) But because I am Chinese, I have been learning Mandarin for about 8 years now. I also have also learnt French for 4 years, German for 3 years, and Spanish for 2 years (in my school)

I've never had too much difficulty learning new languages, but it's one of those types of things you need to have an aptitude for. I was better at it than most of the kids in my class and I have a good memory so I can remember the vocab, grammar, rules, etc. better. I have trouble remembering words I don't use very much, as well as rules and exceptions, especially regarding comparatives like "bigger" and "biggest", etc. There are a few concepts we have learned that my teacher said is difficult for non-native speakers to wrap their heads around.

Actually, in America, we learn a lot of languages, it just varies depending on where you go to school. For instance, my high school offered Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Latin. My university additionally offers Japanese and possibly Chinese, as well as Russian. More and more schools and colleges are offering secondary languages because our generation will need to know a second language to better engage in business deals and things like that, just like other countries are learning English.

Yes, we have so many rules and exceptions and especcially many irregular verbs xD I think it was difficult to understand the use of the past, isn't? Since we are used to use the Present Perfect everytime, even when we talk about things happened many years ago xD
