That's why when she lies, its very easy to see. Why, because shes bad liar, she not mastered the "art" of lyingOriginally Posted by Miles890 To view the link you have to Register

I'm not questioning anyone's credibility. I think you and I just have differing perspectives on "relevancy" and "factory hitmakers".Originally Posted by R To view the link you have to Register
Yes, Avril is a pop star in the same vein as Katy Perry and P!nk. And yes, all three of them have needed professionals in order to hit it big.
However, I refer to MM/Dr. Luke as "more relevant" and as "factory songwriters" because their names are attached to a whole plethora of chart toppers. On the other hand, the Matrix have only Avril's singles on their mega-hits resume. MM/Dr. Luke are synonymous with Top 10 hits, while no one really knows who the Matrix are.
What I'm saying is that while the Matrix are unknown, they were an "untapped resource" for a novice like Avril at the time. They created something fresh and unique in 2002. On the other hand, MM/Dr. Luke essentially follow the same formula, and the genericness in their handiwork has become apparent. I don't want to get into how MM/Dr. Luke's work between both Katy and P!nk have become completely repetitive and same-sounding, because this topic has been beaten to death by Bandaiders over the past year.
I realize I may sound like I'm doubting the talents of MM/Dr. Luke. But their schtick has gotten incredibly tiresome. There's nothing intricately fresh about the MM/Luke-penned songs by Katy, P!nk, and Avril within the last few years. I applaud the Matrix for at least coming up with something not-so-cliched for Avril.
Plus, I wouldn't say that Avril is dependent on MM and Dr. Luke. She's proven that with her hit-making material with Butch and Evan. However, RCA is immensely dependent on MM and Dr. Luke in order to generate its $$$$.
I hope that all made sense, because I don't know how else to put it.

Britney Spears = Very attractive, fit, sexy, etc. but has little vocal talent
Adele = Big-boned, relatively pretty but not model-like a la Britney, but has a lot of talent, in both singing and writing
From these and other similar examples, they quickly become stereotypes. Of course, as artists like Avril or Kelly Clarkson demonstrate, there are exceptions to these stereotypes. But that seems like a logical explanation to me, how what you said about good looks = less credibility, came about. Regardless of how utterly stupid and shallow it is, it's nevertheless human nature. Unfortunately humans base their initial thoughts and opinions based on looks before anything else. That's how it's always been and probably always will be.![]()

To view the link you have to Register) In this article you can see some other songs they've written. True, their most famous work is with Avril, but they wrote a few other hits aside from her work, such as "So Yesterday" by Hilary Duff, "Why Can't I?" by Liz Phair, and "The Remedy" by Jason Mraz, all of which were released not too long after their work with Avril. She just sort of helped launch their success, just like they helped hers. It's not like they suddenly faded into oblivion after that.Originally Posted by HBK-79 To view the link you have to Register

Very nicely said, I understand the points your making and I very much agree with them. A lot of the arguments in this thread just don't hold up to me, yours seem like the closet thing to the real truth.

haha when I saw the Katy Perry movie, me and my mom were the onlyy ones there. so when the part came up about Avril, I got up starting clapping and yelling "THAT'S AVRIL!!! THAT'S AVRIL!!" In the movie, the people told Katy she should be more like Avril Lavigne. When she was recording a song, one of the guys was like "Sing the chorus with more aggression" and Katy was throwing things and acting crazy and she was like "Grrr! I'm Avril Lavigne!!" I'm sorry, but I thought that was funny x3
