Well I don't know lol... I like to think that it's just a genre and that he's not 100% authentic... Maybe he enjoys playing with this "bad" image and it seems to work perfectly, looking at people's reactions xD! Let's be tolerant towards another artist for a change ^^!

Rock Artists, who immortalize serial killers, by using their names, only encourage more
serial killers. Any psychologist will tell you that they crave attention and notoriety...
... that is the prime motivation for their grisly acts.



It's like a Rock artist would take the name of Adolf Hitler....how would that sound?

Marilyn Manson just chose that as his name for shock value. And no, music doesn't cause people to become serial killers.It's people who have been born with a mental illness or they went through some traumatic experience and it set off their ilness.
A lot of music artists do things for shock value, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, etc. It doesn't mean people are dumb enough to go off and kill people. You really are looking way far into things.It's just music. Music is an art form, just like painting or sculpting. Art actually is a good outlet for people, which makes it LESS likely for someone to go out and kill someone or to commit crime.Like violent video games. It gets aggression out so people won't go crazy and kill people. If people have an outlet, it makes them feel better.

The name really describes everything that I have to say. Male and female, beauty and ugliness, and it's very American. It's a statement on the power that we give to icons like Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson. It's about paradox - diametrically opposed archetypes.

The only problem with that, Britt; is that he is breathing new life into the infamous name of Charles Manson; instead of allowing him to be mercifully forgotten.

In other words, it will encourage youngsters, who have never heard of Charles Manson, to learn about his nefarious activities...and perhaps think that it's all cool. Maybe Luka Rocca Magnotta was one of those misguided youngsters.

Uh, I don't see Avril ever making a "legit rock album." She is mainly a pop artist, you're just setting yourself up for disappointment if you think she will ever do an entire "rock" album.

Actually, I'm not setting myself up for disappointment, you negative nancy. Yeah it probably won't be the "rock" album I'm wanting, but hey, more of a rock vibe would be fine. And so what if she's a pop artist. Don't put her in a box.

And, I agree that music does not cause people to become serial killers....but, if they are a big fan of a certain artist, they will explore every detail, including the connection with Charles Manson. And that's exactly what Charles Manson wants. He loves the notoriety...so, let's all encourage him some more...

I am a fan of Ozzy....and I could also become a fan of Marilyn Manson....I'm just not familiar with his music as yet. It has nothing to do with being a Catholic.

I just take exception to the choice of his stage name....nothing deeper than that...

You see, I really like the fact that I have completely forgotten the name of John Lennon's assassin....because that would make the fucker very sad indeed...
