    The Amazing Spiderman Thread

Thursday night I saw the latest Spider-man adaptation.

Now I often lament the fact that Hollywood milks sequels and reboots rather excessively but I must admit that I'm glad there wasn't a long gap between Raimi's and Webb's movies.

I have nothing against Tobey Maguire or Kirsten Dunst and i did enjoy Raimi's franchise (for the most part) but I feel that overall Mark Webb and the entire cast of "The Amazing Spiderman" was considerably better...

Here are a few reasons why:

    1) Character development/Casting: The way in which most characters were presented and their respective casting choices were well thought out. Minor characters such as Flash Thompson were more fleshed out and complex. Emma Stone, Sally Field and Andrew Garfield were particularly outstanding.

Most importantly Peter Parker's intelligence and character traits are better established and closer to the comics and the iconic 60ies cartoon.

    2) Sticking more to the original source material: Raimi took a lot of liberties and made significant alterations. Most notably he took events that occured between Peter and Gwen in the comics and used them with Peter and Mary Jane Watson in his trilogy.

    3) Action sequences: So far they are a lot better. Andrew even gets to do some parkour in this one.

    Who else has seen it?

Saw it and I agree with you. I did like the "original" series but TASM was great. The casting was perfect.

All I can say is Emma Stone

    hehe
The Amazing Spiderman has better back story for Peter Parker; how he became the hero and how his parents are related to it. The action scenes are superior than Spider-man 1, not the whole trilogy. It's too dark and has lesser comedy. Overall I liked it. I wouldn't judge just yet if it or Toby's is better.

I'm a big fan of the first trilogy, and in general Spider-man has always been my favorite superhero. I watched the original cartoon series in the 90's, and read a few comics. After seeing this one, I think in general it's more connected to the original comic and series. In general, cast is better than the first Spider-man, even though I love Tobey McGuire, and I think he's a great actor. Andrew Garfield was superb but Emma Stone and Sally Field are SO good. Charlie Sheen and Denis Leary also did a good job.

I can't wait to see the next one

I saw it. I never followed the comics so honestly I can't say anything regarding accuracy and what not, but as a movie it was definitely far superior to the previous three that were released. Andrew is a far better actor and is definitely more likeable than Tobey, and the supporting actors were pretty solid as well. The dialogue had its cringe moments but it was still a good enough film. 6.8/10 mebbe.

    You mean Martin Sheen

Oh and I forgot to mention... for those who have yet to see it, make sure you stay during the credits as there's a bonus scene

Hmm...I dunno, I know I love Emma Stone and I love Spiderman movies. I just hope they didn't go overboard with the visual and special effects so it wont look tooooooo green screeny and computerish.
I dunno but I thought they had better effect before all of this lazy green screen computer thing. (HEY! I rhymed, so I must be right.)

I really enjoyed the movie. Emma was a blast.

I haven't really compared TASM to the older movies, for I often find
    comparisons unnecessary.
Fact is, this is a good movie. The characters were cast well, the scenes
made perfect sense and blended well into one another.
I loved the background stories and how his parants left him, to see what
important role they play for him, even when he's a teenager. (I think it
wasn't that clear in the old one..but oh well I start comparing)..

I also loved how the storie ended.

Imagine me, there my heart asleep with no air.
It's elusive how fast two people's life can be parted when it took them
    so long to be common.
