What misconception that people have about Avril really annoys you?

This must have been done before, but yet again I can't find anything with the search tool.

It's still been seriously quiet around here today so anything that causes a bit of discussion can't hurt.

What misconception that people have about Avril really annoys you?

For me it's the way a lot of people I know thinks she's a long gone artist that hasn't released anything since Girlfriend. GL had some great content but it didn't receive much exposure to the masses here in the UK so most of the people I talk to didn't even know about it.

I'm sure some of you can come up with something much better

p.s. I stopped caring what others think of Avril and have been ignoring them for quite a while now, its just what people do and will continue on doing. I know what I love and nothing else matters.

I think another really annoying misconception is that many people seem to think Avril is practically a nobody or a one-hit wonder, when in fact, she has had 5 #1 hits as well as sold over 30 million albums worldwide. I bet many people do not even know that Girlfriend was the first video on YouTube to gain 100 million views. Avril is much more successful than most people realize, if you stated all her numbers and stats to people, I bet they'd be really surprised at how much she has achieved over the years. I bet you even some people don't know she's been around for a decade already.

I think the reason is that she changes so much from album to album that it's hard to recognize her songs based on sound alone (even her voice changes). Dyeing her hair differently can also confuse people and make it hard to tell if she's the same person or not. I can totally understand people being confused because she looks and sounds really different with every album, there's not really any consistency or familiarity like there is with, say, a Britney album. I don't know how to describe it either- I think she is just one of those artists that people don't really talk about as much as they do with artists like Rihanna, Katy, Gaga, etc. People are more interested in those artists because they're releasing all these singles and setting records and all that stuff, while Avril sort of stays low. Avril seems to be an artist who people talk about when she makes some drastic change (for example Girlfriend) then once the hype dies down people kind of forget about her and move on.

Rihanna/Katy/Gaga's music still stays relatively the same though. I mean, you can tell that it is them when you hear their songs. Avril's voice changes on every record and the styles of the songs change, like you said, it's hard to believe the girl who sang "Girlfriend" is the same as the girl who sang "Unwanted." And yeah I'm sure the long breaks don't help either, when she finally releases something people go, "Avril Lavigne????......... Oh yeah I remember her! She did Sk8er Boi right?"

It's not that hard to believe, she grew up so much personally, she's not more against the world and the guys and she learnt that its not always their fault! The whole GL album is the proof, songs like I Love You, Not Enough, Remember When are more mature than her previous breakup songs!

And in what world her studio album career variety is immense? Immense?? It's a such VERY VERY BIG word, i'd use it for Rihanna, Christina, Madonna, Britney's discographies, not Avril's! She didn't do dubstep, rnb, soul, jazz, dance, electro, latin songs like the other 4 did..she always stucked in her pop-rock adding some hip-hop beats in TBDT and did some indie songs, Alice, SST. But that doesn't make her discography so ''variety immense'' xD. And she didn't change her image constantly, she's been dressing with the same things for 2-3 years, during 2005-2006 there was a very big change that terrifies people and fans(i was happy xD)but it was invain..in the end she's a one of the fewer artist, if not the one who hasn't change so much during 10 years, maybe only the hair!(and unfortunatley her voice) And i think this is the thing that make people boring with her...

To answer to the topic, the most annoying thing is that she can't sing.
