When she said she was finished with the album the first time, she wasn't lying. She was talking about her rough draft of the album.
Here's how the process goes:
You write tons of lyrics. Sometimes, artists even write up to 200 songs. CHECK
The top 12-14 are selected. CHECK
She records them. CHECK
Someone produces the tracks. CHECK
She sends it to the record label. CHECK
If they like it, all she has to do is mix it. If they don't like it, she has to repeat the above steps.
They liked it! CHECK
This is the point where she said "I'm done with the album now." She wasn't wrong because her record label liked it and all she had left to do was mix. Mixing takes a lot of work. As you see, she's spent almost 4 weeks in the studio mixing. She had already been working on the album for 10 days straight so she took a vacation for the hard work ahead of her.
The rough draft is mixed. CHECK (almost)
If the record label still likes it, they plan out the era. (est. August 31st)
The first single is released. (est. September)
