When is the right time to release a 'greatest hits' album?

She should probably release her greatest hits album if she thinks it'd be her last. Imagine if Goodbye Lullaby was a greatest hits album instead. Well what if she had 7 #1s after that? Then she'd have to release another one, which would make her label look greedy for money. So... No.

Not necessarily as a last album, but after she's has a good bunch of #1s at least. If she keeps on after that, I'm glad! And maybe 10 years after that she'll release another one, who will remember?

She didn't a special edition for her ten years of career like Britney and Xtina did, so i don't exepct a greatest hits from her xD
At least not now, since she has a very few singles(4 albums, 15 singles + 2 soundtracks =17 o.O)
And a greatest hits is sopposed to include the very big hits and Avril has only 5 LOL
And plus i hate this kind of album and i don't buy the songs that i already have, that's why they are not selling so well. The only exception was the Britney's which sold 9 millions, because it was by Britney xD

It's normal for artists to release a collection album every now and then. As far as I know, Michael Jackson had 5 of them before his death.

I think there is no point of releasing a greatest hits album with only singles. In mind that most people listens to the singles if they not are into the artist.

For instance, The Best Damn Thing (the song) is not really the best pick a single. I like the song but I would rather replace it with let's say Runaway. Even if Runaway is not a single it could still be a 'greatest hit'.

On topic. I would like the have a greatest hits after the 6th album if it not is taking too long. After 5th album is a little soon I think considering Avril has 'only' been active in the music business in a little more that 10 years.
