VOTE for an Avril Lavigne statue in Napanee

This morning, CBC Radio Canada mentioned the on going campaign to erect a bronze statue in Napanee, Ontario. Although it hasn't been made clear whether or not the statue will be of Sir John A. MacDonald (first Prime Minister of Canada) or Avril Lavigne. There is a poll somewhere on the To view the link you have to Register website, although I have been unable to locate it.

That's the 1 thing that was missing in Napanee !!! <3 it
altough i don't think they will put one from Avril Lavigne, In het old high school there use to be a wall af Avril Lavigne but there
were some kids that write a few things on it on sprayed some graffiti. They told me they have plans to create a new 1 but it will probably
happens again just like i would happen to a statue of her

I was thinking of posting a thread as a joke of course about launching an invasion force on the Pitcairn Islands which are halfway between New Zealand and Chile. Only 49 people live on the islands and many of the men are serving jail time for sexual assaults. Technically the three islands (only one of which is inhabited) is a British overseas territory but the residents are descendants of people who mutinied against the British

An Avril Lavigne bronze statue will look so much better than Sir John.
Honestly, they both deserve to have one. Both contributed great things to Napanee only in two distinctive ways. Sir John, on a political aspect while Avril is on a social entertainment aspect.

From a national perspective, obviously Sir John A. has more historical significance to Canada as a whole. But he was neither born in Napanee or a resident there. After he arrived from Scotland (where was born) he grew up in Kingston and Toronto. It was only after he became a big time politician that he moved to Ottawa.

So if Napanee wants to pay tribute to a Canadian icon and prominent historical figure, Sir John A. is the more appropriate choice. But if they want to honour someone who is known worldwide, was actually born in Napanee and grew up there, then she is the better choice.

Although the result of this poll does not necessarily designate who gets the statue we should still show the power of bandaids.
