Is Avril Lavigne really shy and introverted?

Because in my own opinion Avril is not really shy and introverted, She is only shy towards her fans.

Why do i think she is not shy and introverted? She goes to parties and go clubbing, befriending, dancing, drinking, talking with total strangers. Those are the stuff shy people will not do.

Take note, i said total strangers, if she can talk , hang out with total strangers in the club, why can't she take the same warm and openness to us fans? Or maybe she doesn't like us at all ( unless that fan warmed up to her )

She DOES have that same warmness and openness towards her fans. I've seen it every single time I've met her since the first time I met her 8 years ago. What in the world gave you that idea?

And sorry but being shy doesn't mean you're a shut-in. I consider myself "shy" but I have no problem going out to clubs or parties. The only thing is that it's harder for me to approach someone and strike up a conversation. If someone approaches me first I have no problem talking and having a conversation.

Why would you think Avril's only shy towards her fans??? I'm shy AND introverted... We can't or don't just turn off and on how we feel. If we're shy to people it's because we don't know them and it takes us a while to warm up to people. It's not like we choose to, it's just who we are. As for introverted-ness, people who are introverted prefer to be at home or somewhere alone. If we're around people all the time we start to get overwhelmed. Being alone is how we recharge, but it doesn't mean we don't like to be out. We do, just not all the damn time. Avril doesn't go out as much as you think she does. When she does go out its with people she's comfortable with.

It gets frustrating that people think shy and introverted people are "anti social" or act a certain because we "choose to". Avril's around people a lot and I'm sure she gets to the point where she just wants to be alone. There's nothing wrong with that.

^ Yeah totally. I thought I remember once in an interview or something she said she is constantly around people and likes to be alone eventually. It was like MTV Diary or something and she was in her dressing room and she said every 5 minutes someone was going "Avril, Avril!"

Why do you look for every single opportunity to shit on Avril personally? Is it that you really want to dislike her so much that you look for minute details that really mean nothing? You point out the trip to St. Tropez in 2009 as a sign of her not being shy but you seem to fail to notice that she may have met those people who she was hanging out with at clubs before she went to them. Also it's pretty apparent that the relationship between her and Deryck was over or at least heavily falling apart before she went on vacation. Anyone who has been in a serious relationship knows when it ends it can cause you to do things you don't normally do. You might go out to clubs and drink yourself silly with strangers because you want to numb the pain and listening to songs like "Not Enough," "Remember When," and "Goodbye" it's obvious the break up was hard on her as well.

Also as someone who is shy and introverted if someone approaches me and strikes up a conversation I can talk to them and I imagine it's easier to talk to people who don't really know you as opposed to someone who is obsessed with you and might be crying. There is a lot of expectation there and it's easy to get let down.

Well then she is ambivert, not introvert, She could have say it better because she is clearly not introverted in my opinion. Shes ambivert, people who have traits of extrovert and ambivert if that's the case.

Good point, in that case we can't exactly blame her acting like that, however it did made her look bad and gave an impression that she is a cheater, She obviously want to numb the pain but causing only more of it in the end.

No it wasn't- it was her stage manager and other members of her crew who were asking her questions about the show. She was perfectly fine with the fans.

I´m not sure about her introversion too, sometimes she seems to like being in centre of attention and I don´t mean her concerts or show.
But maybe she´s not that outgoing like other people.

Most people have the wrong notion about introverts. They are not shy, they are not emos'. They are just more comfortable alone. Too much stimulation drains out an introverted person's energy. That's why they prefer being part of small groups. They need to be in solitude oncein a while to recharge themselves, introverts are naturally deep thinkers, they are more cautious and less risk takers. Introverts knows how to have fun and party but not to the extent of making it a habit.

I dont think Avril is a total introvert. She has some extrovert attitudes and tendencies. Like what other scholars said, we all have our own introversion and extroversion levels. Honestly, i think she's an ambivert.
