That's a pretty tragic incident. I'd definitely be scarred for life.

Continuing on with what everyone else was saying, there's also the issue of fear of going back to the workplace. Constant fear can even lead to a phobia of sorts, which definitely isn't healthy.

hahah Alicia, looking at that, you'd think all the plastic that's contained in that packaging that isn't necessary could be put towards a better use (at least for efficiency purposes). Like, for every 10 sold, you've got a knife wrapped. Or bring on the bubble wrap.

But making hasteful decisions is a big mistake. Right now, she could be experiencing shock, which would have a strong effect on her opinion of the place. If she gives it a week, the shock will have worn off to an extent, allowing her to make a rational decision before throwing (possibly) away her only source of personal finance.

I would listen to this and also if I was going to Quit or thinking about it I would go to a Doctor first tell him what has happened and you are totally freaked out by it ,
if you lay it on he will give you a Doctor`s Evaluation note to take to your boss , you can get weeks/months paid sick leave while you make up your mind.
talk to a lawyer or union rep about STRESS you now have from the incident and if you want to leave for good say you can`t go back to work there ( talk about all the blood alot ) and you should be able to get some compensation , even if its just a month or two pay it might be worth doing if you want to leave.
and say to your boss and rep about what 3.141 said about the safety issues of having things like sharp knives in the shop that any one could pick up and attack staff etc .
you could get paid , at the least two weeks off . is it a part time job

If it was me, I would totally quit. It would be odd working at the scene of a suicide, but that's just me. Do whatever you feel is comfortable.
