The bell of Avril's house rings. The door opens. She would expect it to be either Jen, Matt, Michelle or Judy. It isn't any of them. She stares at the person who opens the door.
"Dad?"
"Avril?" They both break down in tears. Avril hasn't seen her father for years. "DAD!" Avril yells.
"My lovely daughter.. We meet again!" He says, not getting out of the hug.
"What are you DOING here?"
"Well, I came to see my grandaughters." He smiles widely. "And they are absoloutley gorgeous. Charlotte looks quite like Matt, yet has Jen's nose. And Heather is mini Jen, don't you think!?" Avril nods her head and smiles, then leads her dad into the house.
"We have a LOT to talk about, mister." Avril says.
"Lets start. Hows school going for you?" He asks.
"I've found great friends."
"Good to hear. What else?"
She explains the Deryck story, since she and her dad have been close forever.
"Av... this guy.... he HAS to like you. I mean, Graham's friend.. flowers?! Okay, tell Lindsay and Sophi to tell him your favourite flower and whoever gives it to you must like you. Avi, it is soooo simple. Just get the tips from your good old man."
"Okay, I will. And I'll tell you how it goes." She replies.
"You could email it."
"Huh?!"
"Av, I'm going tonight. Theres no way your mother will let me stay."
"No! No! No! Dad its been years! Please! Please stay, dad!"
John's face goes in reverse from a happy look. "I'm sorry.."
"Say no more. Follow me."
He follows. "Okay, Mom will kill me, but here you go. This, is my secret second room. No one knows about here. Its the 'locked room' in the cellar. Its my room. And since I was little..." She pauses. Tears start coming down her cheeks. "I would always hope.." She says between tears "That you would come back... And this would be your room.. and all those years I would wait... And you wouldn't come... but every day when the phone or door bell would ring, I would have some hope.."
