I read the series out of curiosity, but (please don't kill me) I didn't find it that good. I mean it is ok, but not a GREAT book.

Everyone should check that out. He's reading the entire Twilight series and posting chapter-by-chapter summaries and reviews. He points out some really interesting subtext I didn't really pick up on, and he may go overboard sometimes, but it's pretty funny for the most part. He's up to Breaking Dawn ch. 17 and I think he's going completely insane at this point with entire reviews consisting of chucks of "WHAT THE FUCK WHAT THE FUCK WHAT THE FUCK" and "WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN." But it's kind of awesome and worth a perusal.

I read the books because my sister sort of persuaded me to. I guess she'd have killed me if I didn't. Honestly, they're not that good, imo. Cute stories, but no great plot, no developing and/or interesting characters. Movies were a big disappointment.

At least you people don't bash the ones that don't like Twilight. Phew, I was scared my post was gonna cause some major controversy up here.

The 1st book was good IMO , and i do hope it's more dramatic ...just that the author don't really like violence ...:/

I really love the books, but the first movie wasn't that good. It could've been much better. But the second movie... Me like![]()

Which is bullcrap, considering how gory the fight with James is at the end of Twilight, or the description of the all the rampant vampire wars in Eclipse, or the birthing scene in Breaking Dawn which is just so many kinds of unnecessary.Originally Posted by *The Only Exception* To view the link you have to Register

^the vamp dun have fang ...okay okay ...it's not that horror either , just dun see any blood until Eclipse coming ...but yea ...no blood and Edward or seth together kill a Bad Vamp , that's all

when i first read them i really loved them.
but since theyve become so popular im really pissed off. the hype is absolutely overdone. it might be good books, but the movies are not THAT epic and they could have done so much better (just look at the werewolfs... they look like fury wild pigs).
plus, the last book is absolutely boring... i could have read a soft porno instead. its just full of useless things that dont lead to the solution of problems or a climax, but to... sex. aha.![]()

Now, no offence, I'm only going to state an opinion here. I read the books out of curiousity, I love vampires and werewolves and the romance is just a bonus...and since it was so popular, I decided to make my own opinion...and the writing is good, though not great. But I am disgusted with what she has done, she's ruined the reputation for vampires. Vampires shouldn't sparkle, it's insane. All those years of vampires being set aflame rather than sparkling...all seems to go down to waste because of Twilight. Thank God Daybreakers came out and stayed true to the old days.
It's quite sad, really. Every time I tell people that I'm a vampire fan, they immediately believe I'm into Twilight. I can't get a break. Whatever happened to Dracula? Radu? Lestat? The classics follow the folklore, Twilight does not. She made it up.
But at least the author didn't ruin the werewolves reputation, and didn't change too much of it. I liked her description of them.
And then there's Edward, that miserable, sulky emo who can't do anything without clenching his jaw. Madness! I can't ever take that seriously.
Jacob's character is good, however. The author gave him more of a personality. Quirky, energetic, easy going. She did very well. And I'm not Team Jacob either. In general, he was just more of a character.
