That will have nothing to do with it. He's producing the record. I doubt he will be co-writing any songs. Deryck won't get to decide what happens on this record, the songs will sound how Avril wants it to sound, not how Deryck wants it to sound. I quoted his words about Sum 41's new album, and got happy that someone like him - with that spirit - was working with Avril. Read it again. I didn't make any other conclusions.

Well you can't blame Deryck for that, he didn't write the songs. But out of all the songs on TBDT those two are definitely the best production wise. The guitars sounds a bit rawer and her voice isn't as screwed up like it is on Runaway, TBDT or IDHTT.
Anyway.......
Pleased he's working on the record. He has done some great stuff on slower tempo songs such as 'With Me'.
He's alot more versatile than people give him credit for. And Sum 41 are capable of performing/writing different styles of rock/pop music, and Deryck is a huge part of that. (rant over)

Remember what she said - she was very hands on and A&Red that CD. Deryck only produced two freaking songs!
"Pop punk princess"? Please! She's had that nickname longer than she and Deryck were together.
He's not in control, he's producing. Probably per Avril's request, too.
Further thinking into this, it's also good for Avril because he has her best interest in mind. He wouldn't changed things to how he wanted and later down the road possibly screw her over like other people could, especially over finanicial reasons.
Lastly, nobody knows how many songs he's even producing... So chill out.

He's not just the singer of an average band. He's the writer of most of the stuff for that band. He's the leader of the band. He's more talented than he seems, and just because you don't like his work with Sum 41, it doesn't seem you're not gonna like what he's going to PRODUCE, not even write for Avril. If I was you, I'd give him and Avril a chance and not just prejudicing.
And don't forget, like Lewis said, it's all about what SHE wants to do, not what Deryck wants to do. Since he's her husband and loves her so much, he's going to do what she wants to do, not like others could do. He's definitely much better than Dr. Luke, who's not going to do anything for this album.

You shouldnt prejudge his work on the Album before you've heard the songs, its stupid to say it wont be good just because you didnt like what hes done for her last album. Hes gonna do it the way Avril wants it to be and not how he wants it.
