Ok so, here's my little review of Avril's show in Belgium @ the venue "Ancien Belgique". So we, me and my friend, get inside, get a free Our Lady Peace CD with clips from their new album, a StuBru sticker and other stuff.And we also get checked on camera's and stuff. So no photo's allowed... In the entree you could buy Avril merch, I bought a T-shirt and button pack, and that's all I could pay I putted on the T-shirt and we went into the venue and waiting for Our Lady Peace(the support act) to play. I was standing on the left and at first I was I think 10/15 meters from the stage, but meanwhile the suppert act I got closer to stage and to my happinnes I was on the 2nd row when Avril was going to start. There was a lot of pushing where I was standing, but the pain was worth it.
The lights went off and then Sk8er Boi started to play, a black web fell down and Avril started to sing. The moment everyone was waiting for! So it's obvious everyone went crazy. After 'Sk8er Boi' Avril sang 'Nobody's Fool'. I don't excuactly know the sequence of the songs she sang. But she played all the songs of 'Let Go' + b-side 'I Don't Give'. She and Jesse talked through the gig. Jesse said 'What are you people there in the back sitting?' And Avril said all kind of stuff.
On a moment she started telling that Peter, a guy(29 and single ) that helped on the tour, celebrated his Birthday, she asked everyone to sing 'Happy Birthday' for him and then they gave him a cake with candles. Avril played the guitar 3 times. For Naked, Mobile and Tomorrow. Before they played tomorrow, everyone of the band went off stage and the lights went out. Then you could see Evan running in the back of the stage trying to hide, and then Avril came up with a guitar, the lights went on and Avril and Evan started playing Tomorrow. I personally think Avril gave the most energy while she was performing 'Losing Grip'. She started performing 'I'm With You' by sitting on Matt's drumms, first asking if we were sweaty and hot. To perform 'Complicated' she asked a girl and a boy on stage to sing along with her. Also, while singing 'I Don't Give' she sang 'I don't give a shit, I don't give a damn what you say 'bout that'(normally it is: 'I don't give it up, I don't give a damn...), just for letting you people know She ended the concert with 'Unwanted' and then throwed her guitarpics in the crowd.
The boys also throwed their guitarpic and Matt his drummsticks. I couldn't get hold of any of these I stayed standing there until security started to ask people to get out of the room, then me and my friend went more to the exit of the room, but I'm glad we stayed for a little while there cause they throwed guitarpics that has on one side "Try To Shut Me Up Tour 2003" and on the other side 'Avril' and an "A" in starshape, in Avril's handwriting and beneath that "Dunlop U.S.A.". And I have a purple one, my favourite color!
I didn't got an autographe from Avril or any of the guys but it doesn't really matter cause I saw them(and still can't believe it ) Avril was wearing the same outfit as she was wearing at the concert in Stockholm(you can see pictures of that show on twobeats. The shirt said 'Elvis' on the back, and her hair was straight and flat(like usual). She looked really great! I'll try to get the sequence of the songs she played, but I really don't remember
I'll also scan the guitarpic, but my scanner doesn't work at the moment... And just to say it in short: Avril and the guys are amazing! They totally rock and are great musicians, and know how to please the crowd!
