Toronto - April 9 2003 by Dave - Try To Shut Me Up Tour
Try To Shut Me Up Tour Review
Concert: Toronto
Reviewer: Dave
Date: April 9th 2003
Before I get started I don't have any pics why you ask....well read on and you will see. But I am going to the London show on Sunday and I will make sure that I have pics. I promise you all.
OK......I took the day off school because I wanted to get there early so I had a good spot. I had floor tickets, bought them off Backbone for $35. OK so I left my house at 9AM and got to the ACC at about 10:30AM. When I got there, there was a group of grrls. Now remember this is Canada so the temperature is below 0. I asked the grrls infront of me what time they got there and they said 5:30AM.....ummmm ok lol. So I get in line and look at my watch.....11AM GREAT only 7 hours left. As time went on the line got a bit longer but not much. The line didn't start to grow untill after 3. At about 4:30 I heard someone say that the merch was out so the people who were in line around me held my spot and I went and bought two t-shirts. One with all the tour dayes and the other had the picture of Avril with the V-Wing guitar and said Avril Rocks! I left line like 5 times to go to the bathroom at stuff so it was cool that the ppl aroung me were nice. IN TOTAL 8 HOURS 45 MINUTES IN LINE, IN BELOW 0 TEMPERATURE!!!!!! Yes I am the biggest fan.
It was then 6 o'clock and the line was huge and I was like right at the front. They finally let us in at 6:15PM and we all ran inside and right to the front. The stadium looks awesome once you get in there. Once the ACC started to fill up the show started at 7. Swollen Members were first. They were better than I thought they would be. They played untill about 7:30 and then GOB came on. Wow! they were awesome!!! I have a lot more respect for GOB after that lol. I got one of the bass guitarists picks when he threw it into the crowd, that was pretty kool. I took one picture of GOB then the stupid ass security gurad comes over and looks at my camera and says "NO DIGITAL". I was like "are you serious, thx for letting me know before you jackass" lol. I was very pissed and I couldn't take it out later because he was right infront of me the whole show and he kept saying "put it away put it away" But then I realized I was going to the London show too so that made me feel better. Once they were finished the stadium was full and very loud it was wicked. It took a bit for them to clear the stage and get ready for Avril. It was cool becasue they had these big curtains and they had "Try To Shut Me Up Tour" projected up on it which was cool to see. A bit after 8 i think Matt started to play the beginning of Sk8er Boi and then they dropped the curtain and they all started. It was an awesome starting!! I guess i'll say this now I got Jesses play list after the show. If don't know what that is, it's a sheet of paper with all the songs they are gona paly in order. They put it on the floor beside their mic obviously so they know what song is next. So seeing I have Jesses this is the order of the songs they played:
SK8er Boi
Nobody's Fool
Mobile
Anything But
Losing Grip
Naked
Too Much To Ask
I Don't Give
Basket Case <----Cover
My World
I'm With You
Complicated
Unwanted
_______________
Tomorrow <-----Encore
Things <-----Encore
The show was awesome!!! Avril Rocked!! She had a yellow t-shirt that said HALLS in green letters and black pants connected with two pieces. Look at those pics I mentioned earlier. I was like almost right under Jesse a bit over to the middle. It was a great show. She did the same thing and brought 2 people up on stage for Complicated. It kinda sucks, she didn't really come down to the crowd , only once and it was off to the other side. But that's ok.
Jesse and Charlie had a lot of energy which so cool moving and jumping around. It was cool to see Charlie moving around more and Evan kinda stayed to his side. They did Basket Case again and played I don't Give they were both done awesome!!! The encore was Tomorrow and Things I'll Never Say. Avril played aqustic with Evan for that one and for the last song they all came out and played. Avril played guitar for i think it was 2-3 songs, I don't remember which tho.. The stage was cool too they had screens at the back that showed different things like the red star. Also they had video guys taping the show. They had screens on the sides showing the action, I guess that's for the ppl at the back.
The show ended at around..........oh man I'm not really sure 10PM...10:15 around that time. Overall it was awesome except for the fact that i didn't get any pics but I kinda made up for that with the Set List and also I'm going to the London show so I'll make sure I get tons of pics. I waited untill 11 to see if Avril or anyone came out but at that time only a guy form Swollen Members and GOB were outside and it was very cold so I left.
So There ya go Avril in Toronto 2003
