Portland/Vancouver - November 23rd/24th by Kona17 - Bonez Tour

Concert: Portland/Vancouver
Reviewer: Kona17
Date: November 23rd/24th 2004

I left home around 7 on Tuesday and rolled into Portland around 10. There were only 8 people or so passing time until the show. I made friends with the ones who had been there all night, dreading the long line that didn't really show up until 5 or 6. We scoped the place out and found the tour busses we figured were Avril's. I listened to my iPod to keep myself entertained, while I was hanging out. There was no one there , so we didn't have to worry about losing our spot. It was pretty late in the afternoon when they finally told us we'd been waiting in the wrong spot and the line started to form. We'd all been saving spots for each other, though, so we were at the front of the line. It was worth, the wait, though, because we were front and center, against the railing, for an incredible show. Avril Rocked!!! I can't even describe it. Other people have already, so you have some idea.

After the show, I waited until 11:30 or so, when Avril's bodyguard laid out the ground rules. There would be no posing and we couldn't use any Flashes, since Avril was probably seeing Stars after all the pictures that had been taken of her that day. She was really nice. I got the first signature, since I was at the front end of the railing. She signed my Backbone Patch. I don't remember how many people there were, maybe 20-30 people. Most people had left, since they were tired and wanted to go home.

After the show, I drove on to Vancouver, where I had a hotel waiting for me. The weather sucked the whole drive. It was pouring rain and it was like driving through a river at times. I passed the tour busses twice on the way up. I thought about following them, but decided it would be kind of creepy and they were driving closer to the speed limit of 70. I was driving 80 -85, but I still didn't get to my hotel until 5 in the morning, 6 hours before I was supposed to check out. Lucky, the hotel was cool about it and gave me another 24 hours. So I was able to use my hotel before and after the show.

I think I got to the arena around 1 or 2, but again, it was worth the wait, since I was able to be front and center, right up against the railing. The show was even better in Vancouver. Avril was Amped, well rested and happy. I didn't get an autograph later, since the crowd was so much larger. They didn't allow any cameras at all this time. Avril went straight down the barricade and didn't look back. She did get some small girls she had missed on the way back, but didn't get everyone. Her hand must have been sore from all the autographs. I had two signatures already and had just seen two of the best concerts ever, so I was happy.

I have my Avril Fix for now.

It would be nice if she played in Seattle, though, so I wouldn't have to drive as far.
I'm exhausted now, since I didn't get home until 6:30 Thanksgiving morning. I practically slept through dinner with my family. I'm about ready to pass out now. Hopefully my pictures came out. I shot 4 rolls. all of them have different speeds, from 200 ASA to 1600. I didn't use my flash at all, so they may be blurry or dim, but if they do come out, there should be some great shots. They were incredible concerts and I can't wait until the next show.

Rock On, Avril!!!
