Man I dont even know where to start. I can't even describe in words how awesome the show was last night in Vancouver. This was my first time seeing Av LIVE and I'm for sure it wont' be my last.
Going to the show I really didn't expect Av to perform as well. I mean I've seen her in many live TV shows and such and sometimes she only does so-so. Also, since this is her 2nd last show of the tour, I thought she would be somewhat exhausted. Boy, was I soooooo wrong. Her singing was incredible, it was pretty much perfect-pitched and in control. She had really proven herself that she has the singing talents. No doubt about it. Av had really improved from her "Let Go" days, this is especially evident when she did "I'm With You" and "Slipped Away". I really coudlnt' help myself but to compare Av to musicians such as Alanis and Cranberries. Especially Alanis, the influence is totally there.
Thoughout the show, Av had great energy, always smiling, jumping around making sure she goes to every corner of the stage so her fans gets to see a close-up of her performing. She looked really pretty in a black tank top and olive green pants. I was about 3rd row so I took some alright pics. Personally, I think she looks even prettier in person than in pictures. Av had pretty good chemistry with the band though I think Evan was still better at "rowdying" up the crowd than the current band members. But you can tell they were all having fun onstage.
Tracks she performed that totally got me screaming to the top of my lungs were: "He Wasn't, "My Happy Ending", "Take Me Away", "I'm With You", "Losing Grip" and "Unwanted". I especally liked the unplugged tracks she did, whether it be on piano, drums or guitar truely showed off what a talented musician she really is. I mean taking the time to learn all of these instruments requires you to really have a passion for it to make it happen. The fact that she can play all these instruments live made me respect Av at a whole different level.
After the concert, as I was walking out the collesium in a daze still trying to get over how blown away I was; I hear these 10-12 year old kids telling their parents how they want to play the piano and guitar just like Avril did. And it hit me once again what an influential artist Av really is. She doesn't influence only little kids, but even myself. Strange part is, I'm a lot older than Av and the way she had influenced me to play music still boggles my mind. I guess it doesn't matter how old you are, talented musicians are influential and Avril is definetly one of them.
