Sheffield - October 12th, 2004 by Me-CK - Bonez Tour

Concert: Sheffield
Reviewer: Me-CK
Date: October 12th 2004

Most of you have probably read the reviews of earlier shows, so im just going to write about the highlights from the gig.

SP opened up the show at about 7.30pm. at first, the crowd wasnt really paying attention coz no-one really knew who they were (stupid ppl lol) but after a few songs, ppl were getting into it and Pierre were just asking if ppl were alright and how it was their first time playing at Shieffield Arena. They did a couple more songs and then Pierre introduced the band (he accidentally said David and Jeff's name the other way round, which he took the mickey out of). Then they played some new songs from the new album ("Shut Up", "Me Against The World" and of course "Welcome To My Life") and "Perfect". I think they rounded things off by playing "Happy Togther" but i cant really remember.

After that, me and my friends ran all the way to the corridor so we could queue up for SP signing session, after about 10 mins, they came out and everybody cheered. Chuck was really sweaty and Pierre was so much hotter in real life! lol Jeff was cool as usual, David was really chatting and actually asked me where I got their promo pics of their 2nd album from, which was nice. Seb was really quiet and didnt say much. Because there was a long queue, i didnt want to hold up everybody so i only managed to get a pic of me with pierre and seb.

So, after the 20 min interval, which they changed the set (putting drums on the platform in the centre of the stage, getting everything ready), th lights dimmed and I could just make out Craig and Matt getting onto the stage whilst everyone was cheering. They opened up with "he wasnt" and followed by "my happy ending". I cant really remember the entire set list (but im sure you can find it at some other review).

but the highlights were probably when craig and devin kept messing around. craig kept throwing guitar picks at devin all the way throught the concert, by which devin threw out his old pick, and caught craigs flying pick and continues playing with it. Another pick related inccident was, i think it was, during "Mobile", Devin kept chucking picks at Charlie, and chaz kept trying to kick it and he only managed it on the 5th attempt. there was also at the end of one of the songs, matt just literally threw his drumsticks backwards and all i could see were these two sticks flying towards the back drop. it was so funny. o yeh, and during "dont tell me", avril was just waving her arms about so everybody were doing the same, and charlie stood up on those mini platforms and waved his arms about and just suddenly turned it into one of those "robot" dance moves. it was so hilarious!

Avril closed the show with "slipped away", which she played on piano on by herself without the band and after that song, she thanked everyone for coming and bowed. everyone was cheering like mad and i saw her coming through the tunnel as she walked to her tour bus or whatever and she waved at everyone and said "see you!"

i think the show was awesome and Avril sounds a lot better this time round than the TTSMU tour. I had a really good time and i cant wait for her next tour!
